PREMIUM GRASS SEED BLEND
DESIGNED TO THRIVE IN THE TRANSITION ZONE LIKE OURS IN COLUMBUS.
Green Up uses premium quality grass seed
The key to a green, lush lawn lies in the quality of the grass seed. Of course, anybody can purchase grass seed at their local home improvement or big box store. However, you can't find high quality grass seed everywhere because not all seeds are created equal. Green Up uses a blend of elite grass seed mixture consisting of 80% Turf Type Tall Fescue (TTTF) varieties with great disease and insect resistance, the incorporation of 10% Kentucky bluegrass and 10% perennial ryegrass for rapid recovery and increased density. It is deep rooting, drought tolerant, and dark green in color. Our premium grass seed meets the demands or our region's hot, dry summers with the added bonus of good shade tolerance. It's a cold season grass blend that grows rapidly in the spring and fall months.
Perfect for filling in bare spots in a patchy lawn.
Germinates in 4 - 10 days
Great for starting a new lawn from scratch or renovating a thin, old turf stand with new and improved grass species.
TTTF is unlike the tall fescues that homebuilders and contractors used years ago. It's top rated for color, density and green up.
TTTF has become the #1 cool season turf species in the transition zone of the U.S.
At Green Up, our grass seed mixture is a blend of 80% elite turf type tall fescue, 10% Kentucky bluegrass and 10% perennial ryegrass
Why Use Our Quality Grass Seeds?
If you take a closer look at the tags on the grass seed bags that are sold at popular stores you'll find that these products contain mostly filler material, large amounts of inert matter, as well as mediocre seed varieties. The low quality grass seed products on the market today won't produce the results you are looking for.
Our top-shelf grass blend is sure to make your lawn the best performing in the area. The great thing about this variety is that it offers great heat and cold tolerance which makes it an ideal choice for Ohio property owners who desire beautiful lawn all year-round.
When should you plant TTTF?
Fall is the best time to seed. The average day time temperature starts to dip and the unpredictable summer thunderstorms and torrential downpours are behind us. Plant TTTF seed when soil temperatures are between 50 and 70 degrees F. Your air temperature should be around 60 to 80 degrees F at this time. Mid August - September is a great time frame here in Ohio to seed. We only recommend spring time seeding when absolutely necessary. The seedlings do not have enough to time establish strong roots to survive the slow growth period of June & July.
How much seed to use?
Overseeding an existing poor lawn: Six-eight (6-8) pounds per 1,000 square feet
Overseeding an existing nice lawn: Three-six (3-6) pounds per 1,000 square feet
Seeding bare ground: Eight to ten (8-10) pounds per 1,000 square feet
The goal is to keep the seed moist. Water multiple times a day, light and frequent every day to ensure the ground and seed stay moist. Our grass seed mixture start to germinate anywhere from 4 to 10 days depending on environmental conditions. Be patient! Once you have a good layer of germination, you can slowly revert back to watering 1" per week, deep and infrequent.
